Getting Started

Getting Started

So much planning has gone on to get to this point and I couldn’t be happier! First a little backstory, I took ceramics in junior high when we lived in Clovis, CA and i had so much fun. Jump a whole lotta years later and I am looking forward to learning and growing my skills.

My first purchase was a very small used kiln. It is a Cress FX 911. I will need to upgrade to a bigger one before too long but I should be able to do a few mugs or bowls at a time with this one. I have also purchased some various tools and things to get started. My second big purchase was a wheel. I went with a Shimpo VL lite and it is great so far! It cane with 50 lbs to start with and so far I haven’t made a single thing worth saving but I am confident that will change!

I have a spare bedroom I am set up in now with my kiln out in the garage. I have some shelves and a table and everything I need to create beautiful mugs and bowls someday!

I did sign up for a class here in town and I think that will be helpful. It’s a lot harder than I remember! I will continue updating my progress here and on my instagram so watch for updates!
